POSITION: Housing Kit Volunteer

COMMITMENT REQUIREMENT: 5-8 hours per week
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Veteran Housing Kit Volunteer is responsible for working with the program administrator to coordinate and call Veterans and arrange for them to receive household goods as they transition out of homelessness. The Housing Kit Volunteer will work with local VA Representatives and Soldiers’ Angels staff to coordinate delivery of items to the Veterans. The Housing Kit Volunteer will order specified items via Amazon after determining the Veteran has the keys to their new home and confirm the move-in date.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complete Volunteer Service Training, learn and demonstrate best practices.
- Call Veterans and HUD-VASH case workers to verify application information.
- Confirm with Veteran or HUD-VASH case worker when Veteran is ready to receive housing goods.
- Connect with the client to “shop” for the items they would like for their home
- Notify the Veteran or HUD-VASH case worker of tracking information for the shipment.
- Coordinate in-person deliveries of household goods either to the Veteran, their HUD-VASH case worker, or an authorized Soldiers’ Angels courier.
- Coordinate shipping dates with Veteran or HUD-VASH case worker or Veteran for Amazon shipments.
- Work with Program Administrator to ensure all proper documentation is completed and filed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects at the same time.
- Pass a background check.
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with a diverse variety of individuals.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft office programs.
- Must be familiar with e-commerce websites and use.
