Our mission:

Women are 51% of the global population. Why are we only 13% of world leaders?

Step Forward Global Initiative (SFGI) is a civic education and information organization focused on women entering politics, at the starting line, rather than at the finish line. We shift the conversation to, “Who steps forward to run?” instead of, “Who won?”

SFGI tracks upcoming elections globally where women are candidates, raising awareness around their candidacy and against the backdrop of their country. We advance how women running for political office worldwide are perceived through our nonpartisan, fact-based, digital-first presence, using social media and our website to increase their visibility.
