Join the incarcerated-led innovation lab partnering with the Governor’s Office, eL Seed, FaithXLVII, and other visionaries to shape how the world experiences the movement for justice reform through powerful storytelling, creative collaboration, and digital campaigns.
San Quentin SkunkWorks is redefining how reform happens — bringing world-class designers, artists, and technologists together inside prison walls to co-create the future of justice.
Our work has been featured on the front page of the LA Times and profiled by CalMatters as a model for system-wide transformation. Supported by leading foundations and civic partners, we’re proving that incarcerated creators aren’t the subjects of reform — we’re the architects of it.
When partner organizations, supporters, and media reach out to us online, they deserve to be met with the same intentionality we bring to everything else. This role ensures that every collaboration request, every message, and every comment reflects who we are.
You'll join a volunteer-powered creative team where every seat is held by someone operating at the top of their field — professionals whose careers span Netflix, Apple, TikTok, Crunchyroll, and other organizations shaping culture at scale.
Day to day, you'll work alongside our creative director, copywriter, project manager, graphic designer, and social media manager — all volunteers, all bringing the same professional standard to this work that they bring to their careers. And at the center of it all, you'll collaborate with incarcerated storytellers and creators who are building something the world hasn't seen before.
You'll own the day-to-day responsiveness of our social channels, the connective tissue between SkunkWorks and the partners, supporters, and audiences who power this movement.
Accept and manage collaboration requests from partner organizations on Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook, ensuring no request sits longer than 24 hours.
Monitor and respond to DMs from supporters, partners, media, and the public with warmth and dignity-centered language.
Engage with comments on our posts and tagged content acknowledging supporters and keeping conversations alive.
Flag time-sensitive messages — media inquiries, partnership opportunities, urgent requests — to leadership.
Track response times and engagement trends, sharing a brief weekly report with the team.
Proactively engage with partner organizations, allied movements, and aligned voices — commenting, liking, and showing up in their feeds to grow SkunkWorks' visibility beyond our current audience.
Coordinate with the Design Team to ensure posted content gets real-time engagement support.
Familiarity with Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook from an organizational or page-management perspective.
Strong written communication and comfort representing a mission-driven organization online.
Reliability and consistency: this role depends on regular daily check-ins, not bursts of activity.
Comfort working with sensitive stories and maintaining agency-centered language around incarceration and justice reform.
Bonus: background in community management, social-impact communications, or audience engagement.
Every accepted collaboration tells a partner organization: we take this relationship seriously. Every answered DM tells a supporter: you matter to this movement. Every engaged comment tells the public: we're here, and we're listening.
You'll be the reason SkunkWorks shows up online the way we show up in person with intention, with warmth, and with purpose.
