Atlanta Angels believe that not everyone is called to foster or adopt, but everyone can make a difference in a child's life. One way you can make an impact is through our Dare to Dream program. The Dare to Dream program focuses on one-on-one mentoring for youth (ages 11-22) who are in foster care, at-risk to age out, or have aged-out. Mentors serve as positive role models who meet with their youth to build relationships and empower them to accomplish their goals. As a mentor, you will have the opportunity to provide youth who are in or have aged out of care with the one-on-one support they need to feel safe, capable, and loved.
This program requires a one-year commitment, with meetings at least twice a month with your mentee.
We are specifically looking for volunteers in Woodstock for youth number #194. This youth is a creative and expressive 13-year-old who enjoys tennis, painting, coloring, and spending time outdoors. She loves music, mystery movies, and reading stories online. School can be challenging at times, but she enjoys math and social studies and is working on managing frustration when faced with difficult topics. She would benefit from a patient, encouraging mentor who can connect through shared activities, creativity, and consistent emotional support.
The first step in the volunteer process is to attend a virtual Discovery Session. You can learn more or sign up here. If you have any questions, please email volunteer@atlantaangels.org or visit our website.
