Board Treasurer

Nuclear Fusion Events (NFE) is a Los Angeles-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit developing regenerative festival programming around Energy, Ecology, and Consciousness — connecting audiences to renewable energy, environmental stewardship, and community wellbeing through experiential activations in partnership with the music and festival world.

We're building our founding board and looking for a Treasurer to provide financial oversight as we formalize governance ahead of our first fundraising cycle.

What you'd own:

• Review and sign off on quarterly financial statements and budget-to-actual reports
• Advise on financial controls, reserve policy, and expense approval thresholds
• Review and co-sign the annual budget before board approval
• Provide guidance on nonprofit financial compliance (990 readiness, restricted vs. unrestricted funds)
• Liaise with our accounting firm once retained; until then, sanity-check bookkeeping maintained by the Executive Director

What this role is not: day-to-day bookkeeping, tax filing, or audit prep — that sits with our accounting firm once retained.

Ideal background: CPA, controller, finance director, or equivalent. Nonprofit board experience a plus but not required — we need someone comfortable reviewing statements and asking good questions.

Time commitment: Quarterly board meetings (~90 min), remote, plus occasional async approvals. 1-year renewable term. Unpaid volunteer position, standard for nonprofit boards.

This is a ground-floor board seat with real influence on financial governance as we scale into active fundraising.
