Advocate for Long-Term Care Residents
Support and protect the rights of residents living in long-term care facilities. Visit with residents, provide information about residents’ rights, investigate quality of life issues and work with residents, their families and facility staff to resolve problems. Document facility visits and enter notes in Ombudsman database. Certification training, including on-line self-study, in-person virtual training and shadowing with a certified Ombudsman is required and provided at no cost to volunteers. One year commitment, 2-4 hours per week, flexible scheduling upon completion of certification training. Travel to various facilities throughout Salt Lake County. No conflicts of interest and criminal background check required.
