Historic Orchard Workday - Every Wednesday @ 9:30 AM!

Step into the past and make a difference for the future at the Guadalupe River Park’s Historic Orchard. As a volunteer, you'll be working alongside staff from the Guadalupe River Park Conservancy and UC Master Gardeners to help care for over 200 heritage fruit trees, preserve San Jose’s agricultural legacy, and create a beautiful, educational space for the community. No green thumb required - just your time and enthusiasm! Join us in cultivating both roots and community.

VOLUNTEER WORKDAY DETAILS

→ Date: Every Wednesday (weather permitting)

→ Time: 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM

→ Meeting Location: North Gates at the Historic Orchard (across from the Heritage Rose Garden). Walking instructions and map available in sign-up form.

→Parking: Drop-offs only at 425 Seymour St. San Jose, CA 95110. Parking available at 438 Coleman Ave. San Jose, CA 95110. Please anticipate a 7-10 minute walk to the rose garden from the 438 Coleman lot.

• PRE-REGISTRATION THROUGH GOOGLE FORM IS REQUIRED TO ATTEND

Possible Tasks: weed removal, minor infrastructure repairs, tree pruning, mulching, other tasks, as necessary

Getting Ready to Volunteer:

Please arrive as close to 9:30 AM as possible so that we can get you checked in via a contactless sign-in; workday instructions will follow check in.

• The minimum age to volunteer is 10 years old. Chaperones are required for individuals age 15 and under.
• Restrooms are a short walk from the Orchard.
• Please bring a full, reusable water bottle. Light water and snacks will be provided.
• Closed-toed shoes and clothes you are comfortable getting dirty are essential.
• We highly recommend wearing sunscreen and bringing a hat.
• We provide all necessary tools and have gloves to borrow for the workday. If you prefer to use your own gloves, feel free to bring them to the event.
• Inclement weather may cancel this event; we will contact you should conditions require the event to be postponed.

In addition, please note that:

• We are unable to accommodate drop-ins if the event is sold out. School groups and corporate teams must contact the Volunteer Coordinator in advance to schedule events.
