Companionship Volunteers Needed for Hospice!

Affinity Healthcare Resources is seeking compassionate volunteers to support hospice patients, families, and our healthcare team. Volunteers are an essential part of our mission, helping provide comfort, companionship, dignity, and support during one of life's most meaningful journeys.

This is an excellent opportunity for students, retirees, veterans, aspiring healthcare professionals, social work and psychology students, and community members who want to make a meaningful impact while gaining valuable experience.

Volunteer Activities May Include

• Providing companionship through conversation and active listening
• Reading books, letters, or inspirational materials to patients
• Playing music, participating in crafts, games, or meaningful activities
• Supporting caregivers through respite visits
• Participating in our Legacy Project by helping patients preserve their life stories, memories, wisdom, and personal experiences in a keepsake book for their loved ones
• Assisting patients with gratitude journals, memory books, and legacy keepsakes
• Preparing welcome bags and care packages for patients
• Supporting bereavement and memorial projects
• Assisting with administrative and office projects
• Supporting community outreach and special events
• Participating in veteran recognition programs

Important Information

Volunteers do not provide hands-on patient care, administer medications, or perform clinical duties. All volunteer activities are supervised by Affinity Healthcare Resources staff. Through programs like our Legacy Project, volunteers have the unique opportunity to help patients preserve their stories, values, and memories—creating a treasured gift that families can cherish for generations.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old (student volunteers may be considered)
• Attend volunteer orientation
• Complete required volunteer training
• Pass a background check
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements
• Reliable transportation preferred

Every volunteer receives comprehensive orientation, training, and ongoing support before being assigned to patient, family, or community service activities. Our goal is to ensure every volunteer feels confident, prepared, and empowered to make a meaningful difference.
