About Mentor A Promise
Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children and youth ages 5–18 experiencing housing instability in New York City. Through mentorship, academic enrichment, literacy programs, social-emotional learning, creative arts, and community-centered initiatives, MAP creates safe, consistent, and empowering spaces where young people can thrive.
Marketing and communications amplify MAP’s mission across all divisions—including MAP Roots (in-person), MAP Connect (virtual), PromisePlay, Threads of Voices, PromisePress, and The Bells I Hear—ensuring youth stories, program impact, and community partnerships reach a wider audience.
About the Role
We are seeking a Marketing Coordinator to support the planning, execution, and organization of MAP’s marketing initiatives. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, creative, and excited to support mission-driven storytelling. You will assist with campaign coordination, content scheduling, digital engagement, and maintaining MAP’s brand presence across platforms.
This role is perfect for someone seeking hands-on experience in nonprofit marketing, communications, and digital strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and coordinating marketing campaigns for MAP programs and initiatives.
- Support the creation and scheduling of social media content across platforms.
- Track engagement analytics and prepare reports to inform strategy.
- Coordinate with the Marketing Lead, Social Media Lead, YouTube Production Lead, Podcast Team, and Graphic Designers.
- Help develop marketing materials, newsletters, and promotional content.
- Maintain MAP’s brand consistency across all digital and print communications.
- Conduct market/audience research to support outreach strategies.
- Support event promotion for MAP Roots, MAP Connect, Threads of Voices, and major program launches.
- Maintain organized project timelines, shared folders, and content calendars.
- Check and respond to emails daily, with responses within 48 hours.
- Take responsibility for performance improvement by incorporating feedback and strengthening workflow processes.
Qualifications
- Strong interest in marketing, social media, nonprofit communications, or public engagement.
- Excellent organization and project management skills.
- Strong writing, editing, and communication abilities.
- Comfortable working collaboratively with creative and program teams.
- Familiarity with social media platforms, content scheduling tools, or digital analytics (preferred).
- Ability to balance multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
- Passion for youth empowerment, equity, and mission-driven storytelling.
Bonus Skills (not required)
- Graphic design or Canva skills.
- Experience with email marketing tools or CRM platforms.
- SEO, copywriting, or brand development experience.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities (Spanish or Haitian Creole preferred).
Commitment
- Volunteer role, approximately 5–10 hours per week.
- Minimum 6-month commitment preferred.
- Hybrid: In-person in NYC and/or remote via Google Meet.
