Community Oversight Officer

The Community Oversight Officer serves as a liaison between the organization, its leadership, and the community. The position is responsible for promoting transparency, accountability, community engagement, and responsiveness to community concerns. The officer helps ensure that community perspectives are heard and appropriately considered in organizational planning, programs, and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor organizational activities and initiatives from a community perspective.
• Serve as a point of contact for community members, stakeholders, and partner organizations.
• Receive, document, and communicate community concerns, suggestions, and feedback to appropriate leadership or board members.
• Promote transparency and accountability in organizational operations and decision-making.
• Encourage meaningful community participation in meetings, programs, and initiatives.
• Attend community meetings, public forums, and organizational events as an official representative when appropriate.
• Work collaboratively with board members, staff, and community partners to identify concerns and opportunities for improvement.
• Follow up on issues brought forward by community members and help ensure appropriate responses.
• Maintain appropriate records of community feedback, concerns, and recommendations.
• Provide periodic reports to the Board regarding community engagement, recurring concerns, and emerging priorities.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive community matters professionally and objectively.
• Perform other duties consistent with the organization's mission and the responsibilities of the position.

Qualifications

The Community Oversight Officer should demonstrate strong communication, listening, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills. The individual should have a demonstrated commitment to community engagement, transparency, accountability, and ethical leadership.
