The Urban Community Empowerment Project Inc. (UCEP) is a 501c3, non-profit organization that provides FREE empowerment services to people living in urban communities. Our aim is to encourage and motivate self-esteem and self-determination for people who are striving to get to the next level in their lives. We believe in the potential for personal growth and positive life change. UCEP empowerment services include support groups, workshops, mentoring and one to one life coaching.
UCEP is seeking to recruit board members for the organization. These positions are non-salary, volunteer positions. If you are someone who would like to make a difference in your community and have a passion to help people, our organization may be the place for you.
UCEP board members have the unique opportunity to develop community activities in service areas they are personally passionate about. The organization supports community initiatives that empower and motivate positive life change and achievement.
The commitment is for at least 2 years and to attend one board meeting each month. Applicants should have a desire to affect change in your community by creating community partnerships and participating in events and activities in your community.
Spanish Interpreter
Responsibilities
Provide accurate and impartial interpretation between Spanish-speaking clients and English-speaking staff members
Interpret conversations, meetings, and documents proficiently and maintain a high degree of accuracy in the interpretation
Translate written documents from Spanish to English and from English to Spanish as needed
Facilitate communication between parties that may have limited ability to communicate with each other due to language barriers
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism by adhering to ethical standards
Minimum Requirements and skills
Fluency in Spanish and English
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Familiarity with the culture and customs of Spanish-speaking regions
Prior experience as an interpreter is preferred but not required
