Join the PNA's team of weekly zoo walk volunteers!
The PNA is excited to provide this very popular program supporting people with memory loss and their care partners, and are looking to add another group on Tuesdays (and later Thursdays). Volunteers meet at the Woodland Park Zoo gate, help check in the walk participants, and then stroll with them for through the zoo (different route every time) for 45-60 minutes. Afterward, the group typically has coffee/hot chocolate at the zoo café for continued fellowship.
Typically, 10-12 pairs of walking participants each week, supported by a team of 4-6 volunteers. Zoo admission and parking fees covered. Tuesdays from 9-11:30AM (Thursdays from 9-11:30AM in the coming months).
The ideal volunteers are interested in engaging with seniors and have the ability to stroll/move comfortably through the Woodland Park Zoo. Volunteers will need to complete a PNA volunteer application, pass a background check, and meet with our Memory Loss staff prior to the first shift. On-site training by experienced volunteers provided.
