    Sports - Empowering Young Girls through Cycling in Ghana

    This is a growing community-based sports initiative dedicated to empowering young girls through cycling, particularly in indoor cycling (home trainer competitions) and grass track cycling development. The idea is to promote confidence, discipline, leadership, and healthy living among girls while creating pathways for talent identification and international exposure.

    This Program focuses on:

    Organizing Girls Indoor Cycling Challenges using home trainers

    Developing grassroots cycling through grass track competitions

    Encouraging girls’ participation in sports in rural and underserved communities

    Promoting education, health, and gender equality through sport

    We warmly welcome volunteers who can contribute in the following areas:

    Coaching & Technical Training: Indoor cycling techniques, endurance training, and race preparation

    Event Management: Assisting in organizing competitions and community sporting events

    Sports Development: Grassroots cycling program design and athlete development pathways

    Health & Fitness Education: Nutrition, injury prevention, and physical conditioning

    Media & Promotion: Photography, videography, social media, and storytelling

    Bike Maintenance: Basic repair and maintenance training for participants

    Mentorship: Inspiring young girls through leadership and life skills development

    Volunteers will benefit from:

    Como se voluntariar para esta oportunidade

    You will travel to your placement using a combination of

    • Bicycle (provided by the program)
    • Tro-tro (public minibus)
    • Shared taxi

    Working hours (9:00 am – 5:00pm)

    Your supervisor will accompany you to the training location.

    Morning: Office and Outreach preparation (9:00- 9:30 am)

    • Arrive at the office and meet your supervisor review daily plans and outreach objectives
    • Prepare materials (questionnaires, notebooks, awareness topics)
    • Community outreach(10:00am -12:00pm)

    Travel to the community using bicycle or transport. During outreach you will:

    • Interview community members
    • Collect important data and observations
    • Deliver educational and awareness talks
    • Engage respectfully with individuals and groups
    • Support cycling training sessions
    • Assist in mentorship end education programs
    • Help with community engagement and outreach
    • Contribute to program planning and development
    • Promote girl-child participation in cycling
    • Support confidence-building activities
    • Conduct the awareness sessions about the program
    • Inspirational talk about cycling pathways and opportunities
    • Health and hygiene education

    Midday: return & Lunch (12:00-1:00pm)

    • Return to the office
    • Take your lunch break and rest

    Early Afternoon: Data Review and Analysis (1:30-2:30pm)

    • Organize and review collected information
    • Discuss findings with supervisors and team
    • Identify community needs and possible support strategies

    Late Afternoon skill development Activities: (3:00-5:30pm)

    • Basic bicycle maintenance training
    • Road safety road awareness education
    • Leadership and teamwork development exercises
    • Preparing girls for events and competitions

    Evening: return & Dinner (6::00pm -7:00pm)

    • Return to the office
    • Take your Dinner and rest

    Weekly Structure

    Monday- fitness training

    Tuesday- Technical skills

    Wednesday – Education and mentorship focus

    Thursday- strength and power training

    Friday- Skills and maintenance

    Saturday- Rest / Reflection

    Sunday- Rest / Reflection
