    Descrição

Volunteer Archivist for Black Community Self-Determination Programs

The Black Power Blueprint Promotions Team is looking for a Volunteer Archivist to help us document and preserve the work of Black Power Blueprint in our community. (Learn about our programs for African community self-determination at blackpowerblueprint.org)

If you enjoy storytelling through photos and videos — and want to support grassroots organizing — this role is for you!

    What You’ll Do

    • Come to our community center (Uhuru House, aka Akwaaba Hall in North St. Louis)
    • Collect raw digital content (photos/videos) from various devices
    • Upload media to our Flickr account

When time allows, help organize the archive by:

    • Adding dates, event titles, and metadata
    • Marking content as public or private
    • Creating event-specific folders
    • Selecting standout photos/videos and assembling a “best of” collection

    What You’ll Bring

    • A willingness to learn (we’ll teach you all the tools and workflow)
    • Some comfort with tech, file systems, or digital media is a plus
    • A passion for community, storytelling, and preserving our shared history

    What You’ll Capture

Our volunteer photographers and videographers document everything from:

    • Community gatherings and volunteer days
    • Neighborhood garden projects
    • Tornado disaster relief and property repair events
    • Holiday pie fundraising campaigns
    • And more — every action tells a story

Join us and help transform those moments into a living archive that strengthens community memory and inspires future action.

    Scheduling and Requirements:

All volunteers with the Black Power Blueprint experience the following benefits: complete community / service hours, work in a fun and friendly environment, meet new people, learn new skills and contribute to positive change in our city!

No training or experience is necessary, we will provide it.

This a great opportunity for someone looking for a weekly or every-two-weeks volunteer opportunity. It could be as little as 1 or 2 hours per shift or as much as 4 hours. Just let know what works for you! This volunteer opportunity is available Monday - Friday between 9 am - 5 pm. We may have some flexibility on this, so reach out.

Respond through Idealist or email us directly with questions or interest at volunteer@blackpowerblueprint.org.

Group picture: This is the photo of some of our volunteers that came out on Sunday, May 18th, 2025 when we kicked off our tornado relief campaign in North St. Louis. We did neighborhood clean-up, donation collection and giveaway, food giveaway and helped the neighborhood rebuild.
