#911 Community Health Awareness Group

For the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance 2026 event, our volunteer recruitment plan will center on The Collective’s existing youth network, community partnerships, peer recruitment, and direct outreach to young people who may not typically be invited to serve. We will engage current Youth Advisory Board members as recruitment ambassadors and encourage each member to personally invite peers who are interested in community service, health advocacy, leadership, and making a positive difference. We will also promote the opportunity through CHAG’s community outreach efforts, social media, partner organizations, schools, youth programs, shelters, and other community based networks. Recruitment messaging will emphasize that volunteers do not need previous volunteer experience and that their lived experiences, ideas, talents, and perspectives are valuable to the project. We will intentionally reach youth experiencing economic hardship, homelessness, foster care involvement, justice system involvement, or other barriers to traditional volunteer opportunities and provide support to make participation possible. Volunteers will receive clear information about the event, expectations, service opportunities, and the impact their participation will have on the community. Meals and participant incentives will be provided, and transportation assistance will be explored when possible to reduce barriers to participation. Prior to the event, volunteers will receive orientation and preparation regarding their roles, health education, community engagement, professionalism, and the importance of service and remembrance. Our goal is to recruit a diverse group of young people who will not simply participate in the event, but will become active community ambassadors who are equipped to serve, educate, advocate, and create lasting impact within their communities.
