Do you like math? Want to support K-12 students in South Seattle? Join us The Seattle Public Library as a Homework Help tutor!
We are looking for additional volunteers at the Rainier Beach Branch (9125 Rainier Avenue S) for the following shifts: Wednesdays from 4:30-6pm OR 6-7:30PM.
Volunteers and Library staff support students to advance racial equity and close the education opportunity gap for students. Volunteers provide a supportive learning environment where students and their families are welcome.
Here is more about us, and the important work you will be doing, and how to apply:
- Tutors provide homework assistance and to help students develop learning skills. While our most frequent questions are math-related, volunteers must be comfortable tutoring youth in various subjects on a drop-in basis. Because the Homework Help Program primarily serves elementary school students, we are especially seeking volunteers who enjoy helping kids.
- Volunteers will be scheduled to provide Homework Help once a week when Seattle’s public schools are in session, through June 11, 2025.
- Please note: volunteers must be a high school graduate or have a GED diploma. If you would like to tutor youth at the Rainier Beach Branch, please send an email to volunteer@spl.org to request a volunteer application, or find the application link here or at www.spl.org/volunteer. Thanks!
