    Volunteer Grant Writer – Native American Indian (NAI) & Federal/State Funding Specialist

    World Water Solutions (WWS) – a Bad River Chippewa Native-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Hawaii – is seeking a passionate and skilled Volunteer Grant Writer to join our mission. This role is focused on securing critical funding for sustainable agriculture, clean water initiatives, reforestation, and Indigenous-led community development.

    As a volunteer, you will play a vital role in strengthening Native-led solutions by identifying, applying for, and securing grants with a focus on Native American Indian (NAI) funding streams, as well as state, federal, and private foundation opportunities.

    This is an opportunity to make a lasting difference by empowering a Native-led nonprofit to expand its reach, advance cultural stewardship of land and water, and develop community-driven solutions for the future.

    Instruções:

    Research, identify, and track relevant NAI, federal, state, and private foundation grant opportunities.

    Draft compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents that reflect WWS’s Native-led values and mission.

    Work with WWS leadership to align proposals with strategic priorities (agriculture, clean water, reforestation, Indigenous sustainability).

    Maintain a calendar of grant deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements.

    Assist in building long-term funding partnerships with grantors and foundations.

    Qualifications

    Demonstrated experience in grant writing (nonprofit or foundation funding preferred).

    Knowledge of Native American Indian (NAI) funding resources and federal/state funding structures.

    Strong writing, research, and communication skills.

    Commitment to Indigenous sovereignty, sustainability, and community-driven impact.

    Commitment

    Volunteer, flexible hours (5–10 hours per week depending on deadlines).

    Remote position, with virtual check-ins and team collaboration.
