Usher/Front of House Volunteers for Student Matinee Public Performance

Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit is loooking for volunteers to help with a variety of tasks at their live concert presentation.

Before the Performance

• Greeting patrons warmly and checking tickets
• Directing audience members to their seats or appropriate areas
• Answering questions about the venue, show, restrooms, concessions, and exits
• Assisting patrons with accessibility needs (wheelchair seating, mobility help, etc.)
• Monitoring entrances and managing crowd flow
• Enforcing venue policies (late seating, bag rules, photography restrictions)

During the Performance

• Seating late arrivals at appropriate breaks
• Responding to patron needs discreetly (medical issues, discomfort, conflicts)
• Keeping aisles, exits, and doorways clear for safety
• Supporting emergency procedures if needed (evacuation, first aid alerts)
• Coordinating with FOH managers or stage management as required

After the Performance

• Directing audience members toward exits efficiently and safely
• Assisting with crowd control during post-show traffic
• Answering post-show questions and providing directions
• Providing feedback to supervisors about any incidents or audience concerns

General Responsibilities

• Maintaining a professional, friendly, and calm demeanor at all times
• Being familiar with the venue layout, emergency exits, and show content
• Communicating clearly with FOH staff, security, and management
• Representing the venue or organization positively to the public
