Become a Mentor with Creative Lab!

With support from dedicated mentors, Creative Lab supports high school students to pursue the education and creative career of their dreams!

From November 2025 to June 2027, pairs meet for 1:1 sessions and group workshops. Mentors provided support in building standout college portfolios, sharpening professional skills, growing networks, and preparing for college and beyond!

Mentor Responsibilities

November 2025-June 2027

● Commitment to the program and mentorship

● 1-2 monthly meetings with your mentee for at least one hour

● Occasional group workshops over the course of the program (Saturdays - Hybrid format)

● Maintain communication with your mentee throughout the program outside of these meetings (email, phone, etc.)

● Complete online surveys

● Help teens build their portfolios and college application materials, explore their career interests, sharpen their professional and visual literacy skills, and grow their networks

Free Arts Provides

● Dedicated support through periodic check-ins or as needed

● Dedicated trainings that focus on Youth Development and Program Logistics

● Facilitated group workshops and college/career readiness curriculum

● Annual volunteer appreciation events and access to ticketed events and other art opportunities throughout NYC!

Mentor Applicant Requirements

● Availability on occasional weekends for group workshops and events

● Experience/enthusiasm for working with teens (11th + 12th graders)

● Interest in and ability to support college and career readiness skills, visual literacy skills

● Fine Arts background strong familiarity required

3. Attend our Program Trainings in September & October

4. Pass fingerprint & background check through IdentoGo

5. Attend our program Kick-Offin November
