We are currently recruiting for Senior Companions in the following Oregon cities and their surrounding communities:
Pendleton, Hermiston, Baker City, and Ontario.
Senior Companions are assigned to other older adults who are struggling with isolation or loneliness and could benefit from a friendly visit or assistance with shopping or transportation. Volunteers are paired up with clients through referrals from a variety of social service agencies. As a companion, you will set a schedule for visiting and assistance with the client while remaining flexible for appointments or special requests. Companions can have up to 5-10 clients if time allows.
Senior Companion volunteers receive a stipend of $4.00 per hour to cover any expenses associated with volunteering. The stipend is non-taxable and is not considered income when computing income for other federal/state program eligibility. In addition, volunteers receive mileage reimbursement, orientation, in-service training, and supplemental insurance coverage (accident, liability, & excess auto insurance) while serving as a volunteer.
