    Descrição

    This is a volunteer, hybrid officer role for the Treasurer/Comptroller on the Board of Directors of Capital Resource Connections, requiring presence in Washington, DC with some flexibility for remote work.

    Reporting to the Chair of the Board of Directors in this position the Treasurer & Comptroller is responsible for assisting in vetting all financial staff roles in addition to advising all members of the board of directors on sound financial discission making.

    Additionally, the elected officer will assist in managing the annual budget process, forecasting, and preparing materials for the Principal Director and Board of Directors.

    The three-year term begins on the first of the month following the directors/officers' meeting that follows their election and ends at the close of the installation of directors/officers in the year the term ends. The Treasurer & Comptroller may be elected to one additional consecutive term in the same position.

    Purpose

    The primary responsibility in this role as the Treasurer & Comptroller is the managerial oversight of the finances for Capital Resource Connections, including support for the monthly closing processes and account reconciliations, the timely preparation of internal and audited financial statements as well as advisement on all financial compliance. This is an essential role on the board of directors for assurance of accurate fiscal accountability for the organization.

    Responsibilities

    The Treasurer & Comptroller responsibilities may differ slightly from time to time and may be customized according to the bylaws and needs of the organization over time. However, the main tasks of this role are outlined below.

    • Assists in managing the annual budget process as directed by the President including creation of a budget template, dissemination, collection and review of information from other departments, compilation of annual budget reports and creation of budgets for organizational related accounts.
    • Reviews departmental and programing budgets and assists members of management staff who have budget responsibility in the preparation of their budgets, when needed.
    • Creates periodic reports on various financial aspects, as directed by the President, for use by the Board of Directors and members of management staff.
    • Reconciling all balance sheet accounts to external sources.
    • Conducts internal audits and produces a quarterly report of all findings to the President for approval prior to reporting to the Board of Directors.
    • Assists in all aspects of recruiting and interviewing board elect members and officers.
    1. Recruit officers and members as needed.
    2. Be actively engaged in carrying out the impact and mission of Capital Resource Connections with the utmost professionalism.
    3. Facilitate various special projects as the need arises.
    4. Periodic submissions as a representative of Capital Resource Connections leadership for publications as needed.
    5. As appropriate, assist in the recruitment of future board members and nomination of award winners.
    6. Timely communication.

    Education & Experience Requirements

    • Ability to be trustworthy and execute actions in the best interest of the financial stability of Capital Resource Connections;
    • Participation in quarterly board of director meetings;
    • Professional member in good public standing;
    • Demonstrated involvement in local community outreach and/or advocacy, state and/or national levels;
    • Demonstrated commitment to Capital Resource Connections;
    • Compliance with the Capital Resource Connections Code of Ethical Standards;
    • Involvement in board-related activities;
    • Involvement in two multi-day board retreats per year;
    • Maintain board director fiduciary responsibilities as it relates to funding and the development of the organization; and
    • Enjoy advocating for the LGBTQIA+ community.

    Bachelor's degree in finance or business management and a minimum of four years' experience in a similar role for a non-profit organization.

    (In lieu of a bachelor's degree, eight (8) years or more experience in a Treasurer, Comptroller, or CFO role will be considered.)

    All board meetings are in-person, while other associated tasks will be completed remotely.
