On Tuesday mornings, help us to pack much-needed food shelf items for homebound older adults in the community.
Longfellow/Seward Healthy Seniors (LSHS) and Minnehaha Food Shelf (located in the Minnehaha United Methodist Church)joined forces back in August of 2020 with concern for elders in the community who were unable to pick up their food shelf items in-person due to the COVID pandemic. Although Covid restrictions have let up, there are still seniors who cannot leave home to get the food they need.
Volunteers would meet at the food shelf and, along with LSHS staff, will pack individualized bags for clients, and help to load them into the delivery vehicles. All items go to older adults in the 55406-55404 community.
We are looking for volunteers who could commit to 1 to 1 1/2 hours for at least one Tuesday a month.
If you are able to lift up to 30 lbs, that is a bonus, but not a requirement.

- Time may vary depending on amount of deliveries: 09:30 to 11:00 CST
