You can be the reason someone smiles today. You can be the reason their darkest days are not that dark. Volunteering with Amedisys Hospice brings connection, comfort and smiles to our end-of-life patients. It can be in person or remote and completely scheduled around your availability and comfort level.
Remote roles are pen pals, tuck in calls and birthday cards. In person we have non-medical companionship visits, respite visits and sitting vigil. All roles are so important in helping our patients and their families feel connected and supported. Sometimes all it takes is a pen pal post card, sometimes it is a hand to hold in quiet support to ease worries and bring comfort.
If this sounds like an opportunity you would like to explore Amedisys would love to talk to you about it! Respond to this post and our Volunteer Coordinator Kris will reach out to explain the roles, the onboarding process and the training. We do require a background check using your driver's license, a few personal references and a TB test that we cover if you want to volunteer in person. You also need to be in the United States and over 16 for remote roles and over 18 for the in person roles.
