Be a Big!

Big Brothers Big Sisters pairs youth (Littles) ages 6-14 with screened, caring adult mentors (Bigs). Matches meet 2-4 times a month in the community or at facilitated events to have fun, build connections, and provide support.

You can make a difference as a mentor to a local youth! Seriously, you don’t need special skills, talents, or prior mentoring experience. It just takes a little time, a little encouragement, and a laugh or two, so every youth has what - and who - they need to achieve a bigger and brighter future. Mentorship sounds huge, but guess what? IT TAKES LITTLE TO BE BIG!

To become a Big, you will need to:

• live in Harrisonburg or Rockingham County
• be 18 years of age or older
• commit to volunteer for 6 or 12 months (2-3 semesters), depending on the program
• complete an application, interview, training, and background checks

Private Group Details:

• Group Size Range: 1 - 50+
• Event can be held at a volunteer group location (e.g. office, park)
• Donation Requested
• There is a small fee to run background checks for each individual volunteer that would be required. Donations are always welcome as we are a nonprofit.
