Fundraising committee

The Organization for Accessible Journalism board of directors is creating a volunteer fundraising committee.

Volunteers on this committee will:

• Create and discuss new ideas for raising funds;
• Participate in fundraising such as outreach to local communities, posting on social media, reaching out to businesses, and supporting on going fundraising efforts;
• Participate in new efforts to raise funds.

The board is excited about involving members of the public in the fundraising effort. What skills should you have to join this board?

• Enthusiasm about the mission of the Organization for Accessible Journalism.
• A readiness to participate in fundraising.
• A desire to see OAJ funded.

Do you need to have experience in fundraising?

No! You just need to be enthusiastic. There are many types of fundraising, whether its directly asking for funding, posting on social media, supporting on-going efforts, hosting an event, or helping to spread the organization's message and we will help train you!

Are people who have fundraising experience welcome?

Yes!

How will this committee work?

OAJ and its board work remotely and asynchronously, but does hold meetings. We ask volunteers treat this volunteer position with the same respect that they would treat an in-person volunteer experience.
