Volunteer Tutors Needed!

Access Youth Academy is a nonprofit after-school program dedicated to empowering underserved middle and high school students throughout San Diego County. Through a unique combination of academics, leadership development, community service, and sports—including squash and pickleball—we equip young people with the tools they need to succeed in high school, gain admission to college, and ultimately graduate from a four-year college or university.

We're currently seeking passionate volunteer tutors to support our students in a variety of subject areas, including:

• College Essay Writing
• Mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics, and more)
• Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and more)
• English & Humanities
• History
• Spanish

As a volunteer tutor, you'll work one-on-one or with small groups of students, providing academic support with homework, class projects, test preparation, and college essays. Tutors also partner with program staff to help create a focused, positive learning environment by encouraging students to stay engaged during academic sessions.

Volunteer Commitment

• Serve at least three weekdays per month (Monday–Thursday)
• Volunteer between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM
• Commitment runs from August 31, 2026 through June 3, 2027

This is a fully in-person volunteer opportunity. Tutors will work with students at our facility located at: 704 Euclid Avenue, San Diego, CA 92114

Our volunteer tutors are an essential part of our students' success. By sharing your knowledge, encouragement and time, you'll help young people build confidence, strengthen their academic skills, and move one step closer to achieving their college and career goals.
