Help Coordinate the Response When Disaster Strikes - Information and Planning Generalist (Walla Walla Co.)

When a disaster happens, good information helps the Red Cross make good decisions.

The American Red Cross is seeking volunteers to serve as Information & Planning Generalists supporting disaster operations across Central and Southeastern Washington. In this role, you’ll help collect, organize, analyze, and share critical information that helps response teams understand what is happening and plan what comes next.

What You Will Do:

• Collect and evaluate information related to disaster operations
• Gather information about damage, impacted communities, and response activities
• Analyze operational data to help inform response planning
• Prepare standard reports, including Situation Reports and Incident Action Plans
• Create and maintain incident maps
• Distribute reports, plans, and other operational information to appropriate teams
• Assist with scheduling briefings and supporting operational planning
• Work with Red Cross teams to ensure decision makers have accurate, timely information

What We’re Looking For:

• This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with information, solving problems, organizing details, and turning data into useful information.
• Strong communication, organization, analytical, and computer skills are helpful. Experience with spreadsheets, mapping, reports, or data analysis is a plus, but previous disaster response experience is not required. Training is provided.
