Futures Unwalled is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting families of children with special needs. We assist parents in navigating IEP meetings, accessing resources, and advocating for their children’s educational rights.
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated volunteer Education Advocate to help parents navigate the special education system. As an Education Advocate, you will provide guidance and support to families in IEP meetings, assist with paperwork, and ensure their voices are heard in educational decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Support parents in understanding and advocating for their child’s educational rights.
Attend IEP meetings with families and offer guidance on special education processes.
Assist with reviewing educational plans, evaluations, and other related documents.
Provide resources and strategies for parents to effectively advocate for their child’s needs.
Qualifications
Knowledge of special education laws, IEPs, and the special education process.
Strong communication and advocacy skills.
Ability to work independently and remotely.
Passion for supporting families and children with special needs.
