DEBBO Leadership Trust is seeking an experienced finance professional to join its volunteer Board of Directors as a Finance Board Member. This is an opportunity to use your financial expertise to strengthen an emerging nonprofit dedicated to empowering professionals, entrepreneurs, and emerging leaders through leadership development, coaching, mentorship, and community-driven growth.
As a member of the Board, you will provide strategic financial guidance, strengthen organizational governance, and help ensure the long-term sustainability of DEBBO Leadership Trust. Your insights will directly influence our ability to expand programs, build partnerships, and create lasting impact for the communities we serve.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic oversight of the organization's financial transparency and accountability.
- Review and interpret financial statements and reports.
- Advise on budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial sustainability.
- Contribute to the development of annual operating budgets.
- Monitor financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Ensure the existence of appropriate financial controls and governance practices are in place.
- Support compliance with nonprofit financial regulations.
- Advise on fundraising strategy and financial planning.
- Participate actively in quarterly board meetings and committee meetings.
- Serve as a thought partner to the Executive Director on financial strategy.
- Help identify partnerships, sponsors, donors, and grant opportunities where appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
We welcome candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
- Experience in accounting, finance, banking, investment, auditing, or financial management.
- CPA, CFA, MBA, or equivalent financial qualifications are welcomed but not required.
- Experience serving on nonprofit boards is desirable.
- Knowledge of nonprofit financial governance and budgeting.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong integrity and commitment to ethical financial stewardship.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Passion for leadership development and community impact.

Ideal candidates have experience in finance, accounting, budgeting, auditing, financial management, investment, or nonprofit governance. Previous nonprofit board experience is welcome but not required.
Board members are expected to:
- Attend regular virtual board meetings.
- Serve actively on the Finance Committee.
- Support financial oversight, strategic planning, and fundraising efforts.
- Commit approximately 4-6 hours per month for an initial one-year term.
