Do you have a passion for social change and criminal justice? Are you an advocate for criminal offenders and ex-offenders? Do you believe in restoring justice, providing hope, and supporting change for those impacted by incarceration?
Friends Outside is a program that supports the incarcerated, their family members, and those recently released in Santa Cruz County. We are looking for passionate, empathetic volunteers to be case managers and peer coaches for our program!
Volunteers with Friends Outside have meaningful and fulfilling roles helping with case management, doing resource referrals for clients, and peer coaching to help re-integrate ex-offenders to life on the outside.
Requirements:
Volunteers will be trained at no cost by Friends Outside
4 hour/week commitment for 1 year
Minimum of 1-year of service
The ideal volunteer might:
Be bilingual in English and Spanish for the Watsonville office
Have a background in psychology, sociology, criminal justice, or mental health.
If these skills don't apply to you, don't worry! They are not required, just helpful.
