No matter if you are a college student, parent, between jobs, or retired from your professional career, you can deepen or learn new interpersonal skills through your simple compassionate presence with our hospice patients and families.
The greatest gifts you can give is your time (1-4 hours a week), a caring nature, your willingness to listen, and collaboration with our hospice team! Volunteering can be as simple as sitting by the bedside, reading a book, running a quick errand for our patients and their family members, providing respite care, or emotional and spiritual support as needed.
We will provide you with our informative training and ongoing support. We also welcome certified professionals who wish to provide massage/art/music or a certified therapy pet to our hospice patients.
Our volunteers are required to receive or show verification of an annual Flu shot and Tuberculin skin test or blood test, provide immunization records or titers showing immunity to MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) and Varicella, show proof of TDAP (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis), complete a drug screen and a health screening, consent to a criminal background check, and submit a copy of current driver’s license and auto insurance. Sutter will provide health screening and any necessary tests or vaccinations.
