POSITION: Gift-Wrapping @ Midtown Farmers’ Market

SCHEDULE: Saturdays in December 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM
COMMITMENT: One-time
LOCATION: Midtown Farmers’ Market, Lavender Heights (meet at the Center)

SUMMARY: This December, the Sacramento LGBT Community Center is spreading holiday cheer with a gift-wrapping booth at the Midtown Farmers’ Market. Shoppers can have their gifts beautifully wrapped while supporting a great cause. Every dollar raised goes directly to the Center’s unrestricted funds, helping us continue our vital work in the community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Take payment (cash and electronic payments) and provide accurate change, as needed.
- Ensure all money collected is accounted for and turned into Center staff at the end of the shift.
- Wrap presents.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Friendly and approachable with strong customer service skills.
- Basic gift-wrapping skills or willingness to learn on-site.
- Organized and able to manage multiple gifts and customers at once.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience working with the LGBTQ+ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ+ people.
- Passion for The Center’s mission and work to create a region where LGBTQ+ people thrive, and a commitment to follow all policies and procedures of the organization.
- Respect for everyone’s real or perceived sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression, including pronouns.
- Commitment to anti-racism and racial equity.
- Ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, socioeconomic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration statuses, and physical abilities in an intersectional environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; fluency to read, write, speak, and hear English.
- Business Casual attire and closed-toed shoes required.
- Physical Demands: Volunteers in this role will be required to convey detailed spoken instructions to others accurately, and to hear, understand, and distinguish in-person speech, lift up to 50lbs, use computers and office equipment.
