The Salvation Army is currently looking for volunteers who are comfortable driving a box truck to help support our growing community needs.
At times, we need assistance picking up food from the Food Bank, transporting diapers or clothing from offsite locations, and making deliveries within Summit County. Most runs are planned, but there are occasional opportunities where we may reach out for more immediate, flexible help.
The majority of deliveries take place in the morning, with occasional afternoon needs. Routes are typically local and can be completed efficiently. If heavier items are involved, we will coordinate additional help for unloading. You may also have the opportunity to learn how to use a hand pallet jack to assist with moving skids.
We are working to build a reliable team of drivers who are willing to serve as needs arise.
The onboarding process is simple and includes volunteer paperwork, a few online training courses, and a safety course related to driving larger vehicles for insurance purposes.
