THAW Events Volunteer Network

The Heat and Warmth Fund (THAW) is seeking enthusiastic and community-minded volunteers to support our Fund Development team with events, outreach, donor engagement, and promotional activities. Volunteers will help THAW create meaningful experiences for supporters while helping raise awareness and resources to keep Michigan families warm and safe.

Volunteer Responsibilities may include:

• Event Support: Assist with event setup and breakdown, registration, check-in, guest assistance, activities, and other day-of-event needs.
• Community Outreach: Help spread the word about THAW programs and events, engage with local organizations, and connect with community members.
• Donor & Guest Experience: Welcome guests, provide information, answer basic questions, and help create a positive and welcoming experience at THAW events.
• Social Media & Promotion: Capture event moments, help promote THAW initiatives, and share approved content to help expand our reach.
• General Support: Assist Fund Development staff with various projects, activities, and event-related tasks as needed.

Upcoming volunteer opportunities may include: Week of Warmth, Night of Warm Hearts Gala, Gift of Warmth with Local 4, WWJ Newsradio 950 Winter Survival Radiothon, Swing for THAW Golf Outing, and other community and fundraising events.

Ideal volunteers are:

• Friendly, dependable, and comfortable interacting with people.
• Interested in supporting a nonprofit and giving back to the community.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Professional, positive, and willing to assist wherever needed.
• Comfortable participating in event, outreach, or promotional activities.
• Previous volunteer, event, fundraising, or nonprofit experience is helpful but not required.

Volunteers may participate in one-time events or provide ongoing support based on their availability and interests. Every hour makes a difference—help THAW keep families warm and build a stronger Michigan community!
