Project Open Hand’s mission is to improve health outcomes and quality of life by providing nutritious meals to the sick and vulnerable, caring for and educating our community.
As many as 50 clients visit our Oakland Grocery Center every day to pick up medically tailored meals and nutritious groceries. Volunteers help foster a welcoming environment for these clients and help gather their groceries from our on-site Grocery Center. Tasks include helping clients select and gather their groceries, restocking food items, recording their grocery selections appropriately on menus and in the computer, and maintaining a safe and sanitary shopping atmosphere.
