    Social Media & Digital Marketing Intern

    Organization: James S Brady Therapeutic Riding

    Location: San Francisco, CA (hybrid – remote with on-site visits to the Brady barn at the San Francisco Zoo)

    Type: Part-time Internship (1 semester, potential renewal for 2nd semester)

    Reports to: Director of Digital Strategy

    About Brady

    OUR MISSION: To bring strength and healing to children with special needs and the San Francisco community through the love and care of horses; to encourage young people in compassion and leadership through volunteerism.

    James S Brady Therapeutic Riding is a not-for-profit organization that is staffed by volunteers and funded through private donations. This is a unique pilot program set in an urban center at the San Francisco Zoo.

    Overview

    We’re seeking a creative and motivated Social Media & Digital Marketing Intern to help us grow our online presence. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain real-world experience in nonprofit marketing, storytelling, and digital strategy—while making a difference in the community.

    You’ll work closely with the Director of Digital Strategy to:

    • Establish the marketing and branding pillars on which the content plan is built
    • Develop and implement a semester-long social media content plan to grow our reach
    • Create engaging posts, stories, and videos for multiple platforms
    • Research tools and strategies to make our small nonprofit more efficient online

    Key Responsibilities

    • Work with the Director of Digital Strategy to define marketing and branding pillars for Brady’s online presence
    • Collaborate with the Director of Digital Strategy to design a semester-long content calendar and style guide
    • Write clear, compelling copy tailored to each platform
    • Design eye-catching graphics (Canva, Adobe Suite, or similar tools)
    • Visit the Brady barn regularly to capture photos, video footage, and short interviews with leadership, volunteers, and client families
    • Edit short-form video content for Instagram and TikTok; edit long-form video for YouTube and website (basic editing skills required, advanced skills a plus)
    • Research social media scheduling tools suitable for a small nonprofit with a limited budget
    • Monitor social media accounts, track engagement, and suggest new strategies to grow audience reach
    • Assist with analytics and reporting to evaluate content performance

    Ideal Qualifications

    • Current undergraduate student (Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or related field)
    • Strong writing and storytelling skills with an eye for detail
    • Familiarity with Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube best practices
    • Basic graphic design skills (Canva, etc.)
    • Basic video editing skills (CapCut, iMovie, or similar)
    • Comfortable photographing and filming people, animals, and events
    • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and bring creative ideas to the table
    • Enthusiasm for nonprofits, community service, or equine-assisted activities
    • Computer and internet access required

    Commitment & Compensation

    • Commitment: 8–10 hours per week, for 1 academic semester (with potential renewal for a 2nd semester)
    • Compensation: Unpaid internship (eligible for academic credit if approved by your school)
