    Descrição

The Tuck-In Caller Volunteer (TICV) fills a crucial need in helping to identify patient and family needs prior to going into the weekend period. Placing phone calls to patient homes to ensure that supplies (e.g., adult diapers, wipes, hand sanitizer, etc.) are sufficient to get the patient and family through the weekend, allows the staff to be available for more pressing needs that may arise during the weekend. Thursday afternoon calls help avoid placing undue stress on the family and care team members because it allows time for planning and for a patient’s needs to be met by staff during Friday’s schedule, if possible. Working in a healthcare setting, there is strict adherence to confidentialities/HIPAA. Ongoing training is provided.

    Reports to: Volunteer Coordinator

    Essential Functions:

    • Via telephone calls, provide compassionate inquiries regarding patient/family needs.
    • Ability to present a professional and upbeat phone demeanor, allowing for smiling personality to show through, and the ability to convey care and concern about needs of patient and family.
    • Ability to communicate in a conversation meant to determine needs of patient and family; to hear what they may Not be saying. "We don’t need anything," may not be a factual statement."
    • Be an effective and empathic listener.
    • Promote positive, supportive, respectful communication to patient/family and staff members.
    • Be comfortable working in an environment which promotes respect for patient, privacy, and property.
    • Must be comfortable serving diverse groups and cultures.

Expect a rigorous background application process (fingerprints required), physical, TB and drug test, and training required for healthcare settings (Traditions Health incurs costs for physical and testing). But ask yourself, "Would I want anything less for my family member, with a volunteer in my home or with my vulnerable loved ones?"

Did you know that volunteers are required for hospice programs by the centers for Medicare and Medicaid, and that they play a crucial role as part of a hospice care team? Are you ready to become part of our team? Contact us for more information about how you can make a difference to the patients and families we serve. Traditions Health Hospice is waiting to hear from you!
