    Descrição

Help an abused or neglected child. Become an advocate today!

Being a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) is unlike any other volunteer opportunity. CASA volunteers become a critical part of a young foster child's life. CASA volunteers are paired to work one-on-one with a child(ren) to ensure they have the services and support needed to find permanency in a safe and loving home. There are about 350 kids in the foster care system in Canadian County and many need the support of a CASA volunteer.

    The CASA role includes:

    • Maintaining regular contact with the child(ren) and visiting him/her at least once a month.
    • Gathering information about the child’s circumstances, evaluating the facts independently, and providing recommendations to the court by means of written reports.
    • Communicating objectively with children, social workers, foster care providers, therapists, teachers, attorneys, parents, or other family members who may be involved in the case. Through these activities, CASA volunteers are instrumental in facilitating access to the educational, physical and mental health services necessary for each child to thrive.

Benefits CASA volunteers will receive is ongoing support from staff, developing their personal and professional skills, and connecting with like-minded individuals. We would love to have a CASA on every case in Canadian County. YOU are needed and can make a difference!!! Join us!

For more information, or to RSVP for an upcoming training session, please e-mail volunteer@canadiancountycasa.org or call 405-264-5508.
