Who We Are
Creshendo is a young and rapidly growing organization exploring how AI and automation can strengthen our communications systems. We are looking for volunteers who are creative, curious, and eager to learn new digital tools. This role offers hands-on experience with emerging AI platforms, content automation, and social media strategy, and is ideal for someone who wants to build strong, marketable skills in a changing job landscape. Volunteers who excel in this position may request a personalized recommendation from our Executive Director to support future career opportunities.
Why This Role Matters
Email is one of our most important tools for building relationships—with donors, volunteers, partners, and community members. As our Email Marketing Specialist, you’ll lead the strategy, design, and optimization of Creshendo’s email communications. Your work will help ensure our messaging is clear, compelling, and grounded in purpose.
What You’ll Be Doing
- You’ll build and schedule email campaigns in ActiveCampaign (newsletters, updates, fundraising, and program announcements).
- You’ll manage segmentation, tagging, and automations to improve targeting and engagement.
- You’ll maintain brand standards across all emails—voice, visuals, accessibility, and consistency.
- You’ll analyze performance data (open rates, CTR, conversions) and share monthly insights with the team.
- You’ll collaborate with the marketing team on campaigns, events, and fundraising communications.
- You’ll update and maintain email templates and content blocks for efficiency and consistency.
- You’ll ensure deliverability best practices and maintain list hygiene.
- You’ll support A/B testing to increase long-term performance.
- You’ll draft compelling subject lines, CTAs, and copy that reflect Creshendo’s mission and impact.
Who This Role Is For
You might be a great fit if you:
- Bring 1–3+ years of experience in email marketing, digital marketing, or communications.
- Are comfortable with tools like ActiveCampaign, Mailchimp, HubSpot, or similar platforms.
- Have a strong grasp of email best practices—content, segmentation, automations, deliverability.
- Are detail-oriented, organized, and consistent.
- Believe in the power of storytelling to drive social and systemic change.
- Thrive in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
- Want to use your skills to support refugee-led futures.
- Are excited to bring structure, creativity, and clarity to a rapidly growing nonprofit.
Here’s What You Get
- Hands-on experience using AI and automation tools to streamline real communications workflows.
- Exposure to global nonprofit communications strategy across seven teams and six continents.
- A portfolio of email campaigns, newsletters, automations, and templates to showcase for future roles.
- Direct mentorship from leadership, with opportunities to learn branding, strategy, and storytelling.
- A chance to build and experiment in a supportive, creative environment.
- Access to trainings, templates, and digital tools used by high-performing marketing teams.
- A written recommendation from the Executive Director upon successful completion of the role.
- A meaningful opportunity to contribute to a mission that strengthens refugee and migrant communities worldwide.
Even if you don’t meet every requirement, if you’re passionate about impact, storytelling, and innovation—we’d love to meet you.
