Queen Community House's Friendly Visiting Program matches homebound older adults aged 60+ with volunteers in their community. The Friendly Visiting program aims to reduce isolation and loneliness amongst seniors in our neighborhoods and communities. Together, the older adult and volunteer can discuss shared interests & hobbies, play board games, help with technology and much more!
Volunteers can either call an older adult or do in-person visits upon approval. We can work around your schedule! The commitment is just one hour a week.
Friendly visitors must be 18 and over, be open to committing to 6 months of volunteerism, provide 2 non-familial references and consent to a background check.
We're currently in need of volunteers to provide social engagement to older adults based in Jamaica, Queens and surrounding neighborhoods, such as St. Albans, Hollis, and Springfield Gardens.
If you interested in volunteering, we would love to have you! Email us at volunteer@qchnyc.org to learn more and get started!
