- * Due to our insurance limitations, we are only able to support volunteers in North America over the age of 18.
One-to-One Caregiver Peer Support is one of three programs of Courage to Caregivers. This program connects caregivers with volunteers who have experience caring for a loved one with a mental illness. Volunteers provide personalized, one-to-one support to their assigned caregiver. We are particularly seeking those with experience caring for a spouse and those with experience caring for a child.
The volunteer's role is to listen, care, share personal experiences and empower caregivers to have hope. Training is available through a series of training videos. Volunteers are also provided with a guide containing community resources and ongoing support throughout the program.
Courage to Caregivers, Inc. is based in Northeast Ohio. Support is provided for the One-to-One Caregiver Peer Support program is provided virtually. Volunteers and participants live throughout the United States.

Hello prospective Peer Support Volunteer!
Our programs are entirely focused on you, the caregiver and building your health and well-being. Our programs are all virtual, and are being offered at no cost to the participant. We support caregivers of all kinds!
Regarding our programs, we’ve established an onboarding process with your privacy and confidentiality in mind:
1-1 Phone Chat
We have found that a quick chat with Jenny, a licensed independent social worker and Director of Programs, to answer your questions, manage your expectations and better understand your goals is so helpful in the beginning - you may reach out to her to schedule a chat that works best for you/your schedule. Programs for Caregivers
Group Coaching (Support Groups) are now being offered virtually via Zoom. A little more about our programs:
- Our curriculum has 12 themes and 52 topics all around building resilience as a caregiver.
- Our programs focus entirely on the caregiver and their self-care.
- Our groups are led by credentialed professionals.
- We do not provide counseling or therapy - yet, are focused on empowerment of our participants.
Caregiver Peer Support connects caregivers with either a staff member or volunteer who has experience caring for someone living with a behavioral health need or chronic illness. We also have several staff members who are Certified Family Peer Support Specialists. Peer Supporters are caregivers who have already dealt with a myriad of issues associated with caring for a loved one with behavioral health needs or a chronic illness, and have had training. Participants will receive personalized, one-to-one support from their Peer Supporter.
