Role Overview
Mentor A Promise is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Senior Director of Compliance & Ethics to lead the organization's compliance, regulatory affairs, ethics, and accountability programs.
This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance frameworks that support legal and regulatory obligations while fostering a culture of integrity throughout the organization.
The Senior Director serves as MAP's operational leader for compliance and ethics and helps ensure that organizational growth remains aligned with legal requirements, nonprofit best practices, and ethical standards.
This role oversees:
- Nonprofit compliance
- State registrations
- Federal compliance
- IRS governance standards
- Internal audits
- Ethics reporting systems
- Whistleblower protections
- Compliance education and monitoring
Core Responsibilities
Nonprofit Compliance
Lead organization-wide nonprofit compliance efforts involving:
- State charitable registrations
- Annual filing requirements
- Corporate compliance obligations
- Nonprofit governance requirements
- Regulatory reporting
- Organizational compliance monitoring
Help ensure MAP remains compliant across all applicable jurisdictions.
State & Regulatory Affairs
Oversee compliance related to:
- State registrations
- Charitable solicitation requirements
- State reporting obligations
- Regulatory agency correspondence
- Registration renewals
- Multi-state compliance planning
Maintain strong regulatory standing and organizational readiness.
Federal Compliance & IRS Standards
Support compliance involving:
- IRS governance recommendations
- Federal nonprofit requirements
- Form 990 governance practices
- Tax-exempt organization standards
- Documentation requirements
- Organizational transparency expectations
Help ensure MAP maintains best-in-class nonprofit governance practices.
Internal Audit & Compliance Monitoring
Develop and oversee systems that:
- Monitor organizational compliance
- Assess policy adherence
- Review internal controls
- Identify compliance risks
- Support corrective action planning
- Strengthen accountability systems
Promote continuous improvement and operational integrity.
Ethics & Organizational Integrity
Lead MAP's ethics and integrity initiatives by:

Help foster a culture where integrity guides decision-making.
Ethics Hotline & Reporting Programs
Oversee:

- Reporting protocols
Help ensure concerns can be raised safely and responsibly.
Whistleblower Program Administration
Manage and maintain:
- Whistleblower policies

Compliance Education & Training
