About
Since 1988, Exodus World Service has mobilized the Christian community across Chicagoland to welcome and befriend refugees.
Description
As a New Neighbor for Youth, you can be a friend to a refugee student adjusting to life in the US. Resettled refugee kids face unique hurdles. Often, they need to learn a new language and culture in addition to school subjects. Volunteers help with this adjustment through friendship, mentorship, and encouragement.
Details
New Neighbor for Youth volunteers visit a refugee student in their home once a week for 3 months, walking beside them as a friend in their new community. You can volunteer as an individual, family, small group, or church, and training is provided.
Volunteers should be able to regularly commute to DuPage/Kane County (Wheaton, Aurora). Scheduling is flexible to your availability, and no additional language skills are required.
