    VOLUNTEER DOCTOR/NURSE

    🩺 Volunteer Doctor

    • Medical Assessments & Screenings
    • Conduct periodic health check‑ups for youth (vision, hearing, growth, general wellness).
    • Identify early signs of physical or mental health concerns and recommend follow‑up care.
    • Treatment & Referrals
    • Provide basic treatment for minor illnesses or injuries.
    • Refer youth to appropriate specialists or clinics when needed.
    • Health Education
    • Lead workshops on hygiene, nutrition, sexual health, and preventive care—tailored to age and cultural sensitivity.
    • Offer guidance to staff and volunteers on recognizing health red flags.
    • Program Support
    • Advise on health protocols for camps, field trips, and group activities.
    • Help develop medical consent forms and emergency care plans.
    • Community Outreach
    • Partner with local clinics or hospitals to secure free or low‑cost services for participants.

    💉 Volunteer Nurse

    • Direct Care
    • Monitor vital signs, administer first aid, and assist with medication management (with parental/guardian consent).
    • Support youth during medical appointments or procedures.
    • Health Record Management
    • Maintain confidential health files and update immunization records.
    • Wellness Promotion
    • Organize health fairs, vaccination drives, or wellness days.
    • Teach self‑care skills—like wound cleaning, handwashing, and stress management.
    • Emotional Support
    • Provide a calming presence for children with anxiety about medical care.
    • Use trauma‑informed approaches to build trust and reduce fear.
    • Collaboration
    • Work closely with program staff to adapt activities for youth with chronic conditions or disabilities.

    🌟 Youth‑Nonprofit–Specific Considerations

    • Trauma‑Informed Practice: Approach all care with sensitivity to past trauma, avoiding re‑traumatization.
    • Faith & Cultural Respect: Honor family beliefs in care decisions, offering options that align with values.
    • Safety & Compliance: Follow HIPAA, child protection laws, and nonprofit liability guidelines.
    • Mentorship Role: Serve as a positive role model, showing youth that healthcare professionals are allies.
