Purring Hearts is a volunteer-run cat rescue serving the Richmond area, dedicated to helping vulnerable cats and kittens find safe, loving homes. Each year, we rescue and care for hundreds of cats who need medical treatment, time to heal, and a supportive environment before they are ready for adoption.
Because we are entirely volunteer-powered, our work depends on compassionate community members who want to make a difference for cats in need.
We are currently looking for volunteers to help with:
Cat Care at Local Pet Stores
Help care for adoptable cats housed in partner pet stores by refreshing food and water, cleaning enclosures, and giving the cats a little love and attention so they stay happy and socialized while they wait for their forever homes.
Adoption Events
Assist with weekend adoption events by helping set up, talking with potential adopters, introducing them to our cats, and supporting the team as we work to match cats with the right families.
Fostering Cats and Kittens
Open your home temporarily to a cat or kitten in need. Fosters provide a safe, loving place for cats to decompress, recover, or grow until they are ready for adoption. Supplies and support are provided by our rescue.
Whether you have a few hours a week or the ability to foster, every volunteer helps give more cats a second chance at life.
