Help Kids Connect, Play & Build Friendships Through Gaming!

Clark Family Branch — St. Louis County Public Library
The Freddie Ford Family Foundation is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help support our Gaming Group, an inclusive social gaming experience for children and teens with autism and other abilities.
Gaming is the activity—but connection is the goal! Volunteers will help create an environment where participants can meet new friends, practice social skills, work together, and enjoy gaming at their own pace and without judgment.
🎮 Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers will help with:
- 🎯 Icebreakers & Social Activities – Help participants get comfortable, introduce themselves, and connect with others.
- 🎮 Game Support – Assist participants with games, controllers, instructions, and activities.
- 🤝 Inclusion Support – Encourage participation and help ensure everyone has an opportunity to be included.
- 🌐 Online Gaming Support – Help participants learn and practice positive, respectful communication while gaming with others.
- 💬 Social Connection – Encourage conversation, teamwork, turn-taking, and positive interactions.
- ❤️ Participant Support – Help create a welcoming environment where participants feel comfortable being themselves.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for volunteers who are:
- Patient, friendly, and encouraging
- Comfortable interacting with children and teens
- Interested in gaming, technology, or social activities
- Respectful of different communication styles and abilities
- Willing to encourage inclusion without forcing participation
- Dependable and ready to be part of the team
You do not need to be an autism expert or an experienced gamer to volunteer. We will provide guidance and help you understand your role.
