    Descrição

Mentors Needed - Make College a Reality!

Help us make college completion a reality by signing up to serve as a mentor! We are still recruiting volunteers for the 2025-2026 academic year!

Since 1991 College Bound has helped students achieve the goal of graduating from high school and going to college. College Bound has seven academic mentoring sites, located in Washington DC, that serve middle and high school students.

College Bound practices a one-to-one mentoring model, one student is paired with one mentor ("partner") and both work together throughout the school year to achieve academic success. Students and partners are committed to meeting once a week for 2 hours at their designated academic site but also completing at least one monthly activity outside of site to continue building the foundation needed for a pair to thrive.

During the weekly site meetings, students tap into the academic, social, and cultural knowledge bases of their mentors to help make college success a reality. These meetings allow pairs to work on a variety of program components including but not limited to journaling, reading, math, Take Stock in Children which is a comprehensive curriculum for 8th graders, college and scholarship research, and SAT prep. Partners play an essential role in strengthening students' basic skills and assisting them with college preparation.

Our 9 conveniently located academic mentoring sites are all conducted in the evening and currently virtual, allow you the flexibility to pick a and time that works best for you as you mentor from home.
