The Ohio Organizing Campaign/Stand Up for Ohio (Stand Up) was created as a partner 501c4 to the Ohio Organizing Collaborative in 2007. Stand Up has run large-scale electoral programs in seven cities; played a lead role in financial and health care reform; and directed the allied outreach work for We Are Ohio’s referendum to repeal SB5, the anti-collective bargaining bill passed by the Ohio legislature in 2011. Stand Up invested deeply in a movement-building model strategy to bring together a broad cross-section of labor, community and environmental groups who were angry about the assault on public workers and a draconian state budget. Organizers developed extensive online outreach, including approximately 130,000 followers on social media.
