The right of investors in a publicly traded US company to file and vote on shareholder proposals on environment and human rights as well as corporate governance is critical to companies, the economy and public well-being such as climate change and diversity.
This position entails research and advocacy to push back against an ongoing corporate disinformation campaign that is directed toward undercutting these rights. The position involves support for investors as well as national organizations and coalitions to provide them with the resources needed to oppose these threats to shareholder rights.
This is a full-time position for a skilled advocate, organizer or attorney to defend investors' rights to file shareholder proposals. Typical work will involve conducting research, analysis and writing regarding policy initiatives, and developing and advocating for proactive policy ideas regarding shareholder participation in corporate annual meetings.
• Public information reports, fact sheets, petitions, etc.
• Public speaking including conducting webinars.
• Development and establishment of a nonprofit organization on shareholder rights.
• Website development for defense of shareholder rights.
• Engaging with national organizations and investors.
Qualifications
Apply for this position if you are someone with experience working in policy advocacy and/or the financial sector and/or financial sector accountability, and/or have demonstrated experience or interest in working on corporate accountability and shareholder advocacy.
