Your Role

The Corporate and Donor Relations Manager will work under the guidance of the Director of Partnerships to foster and strengthen relationships with corporate and individual donors. This role is crucial in expanding the foundation's donor base, managing corporate partnerships, and executing successful fundraising initiatives. The position involves strategic planning, relationship management, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. The Corporate and Donor Relations Manager will report to the Director of Partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

Corporate and Donor Relations

  • Operationalize an engagement plan with GitLab Inc., develop new materials with the communications team, and support volunteer engagement efforts  (see more about the relationship in our Handbook).
  • Manage relationships with current foundation partners and donors, including coordinating meetings, grant proposals, and reports. 
  • Develop and drive strategies and tactics to strengthen relationships with current funders and build relationships with foundation prospects. 
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure donor engagement strategies align with the foundation's broader goals.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Partnerships and other leaders to ensure a unified approach to corporate and donor relations.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to produce donor communication materials as needed. 

Fundraising and Prospecting

  • Work with the Director of Partnerships to create and implement fundraising strategies.
  • Identify and pursue new corporate and individual donor prospects and create detailed prospect profiles, including financial capacity, philanthropic interests, and alignment with the foundation's objectives.
  • Coordinate and support fundraising campaigns, events, and initiatives and propose innovative fundraising approaches to attract new donors and diversify the foundation's funding streams.
  • Develop personalized stewardship plans to retain and grow donor relationships.
  • Coordinate donor recognition programs to ensure effective communication and appreciation.

Systems, Processes, and Reporting

  • Implement and manage the Foundation’s CRM system including maintenance of records, information, and reporting. 
  • Generate reports and provide regular progress updates on fundraising activities, donor engagement, and other metrics.
  • Assist in building internal systems and processes that support the foundation's partnerships function and ensure they are documented in the Handbook. 
  • Ensure compliance with relevant fundraising regulations and ethical standards.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Personal Attributes

  • 5+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and corporate relations
  • Demonstrated mission- and impact-orientation
  • Ability to think outside of the box, creatively solve problems, and design new solutions
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable with giving and receiving feedback for improvement
  • Experience with human-centric design and agile ways of working is a plus
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and take the initiative on tasks and challenges when presented 
  • Demonstrate emotional intelligence, integrity, humility, and a commitment to transparency and active listening

Compensación

Requirements, Compensation, and Benefits*

  • Fully remote (must be based in one of the Foundation’s geographic markets: US, Colombia, or Kenya)
  • Health, dental, and vision benefits (100% of premium covered for team members, their spouses, and dependents)
  • 401k: 10% of salary (employer contribution)
  • Unlimited vacation time, sick time, and other paid time off 
  • Additional benefits offered to team members including professional development resources
  • Anticipated travel: up to 10% of the time
